Some rules of thumb

Most of the conceptual and design work for a Web site goes into the first page. It is here that the look and feel as well as the organizational architecture and navigation system for the entire site are developed. Additional pages generally cost less per page.

Pricing is based on certain assumptions:

  • The client provides all written materials (requiring minimal editing) and images in digital form
  • The client provides logo and branding material. (Logo design is a separate charge, See below.)
  • A standard page can contain a logo, copy text and up to 2 graphics

What is included?

  • Initial consultation
  • Clarification consultation
  • Site design, navigation system design
  • Testing in major browsers
  • Domain name registration, account setup and activation (nominal hosting and domain registration costs are extra)
  • Site submission to the major free-listing search engines and directories

Sample Pricing:

One-page Web site for an individual or small business: $350.00. A one-page site should be less than or equal to one 8.5" x11" typed page of text, or approximately 300 words. It Includes up to 2 images or graphics supplied by the client (design, editing, and optimization of graphics is extra) and up to three links, internal or external. If you really want the site with a substantial amount of confined to a single page, I offer some ingenious technical methods of including lots of information in a very space-efficient way: Accordian- and Tab-Panels. See below.

Multiple-page site: The first page costs $400.00-- and includes the architecture and navigation structure for the whole site. Each additional page is $35.00. For example: A simple 5-page Web site would cost approximately $540 (home page plus 4 pages).

Accordian- and Tab-Panel Elements: This ingenious approach to packing a lot of information into a small area is based on complex programming. It allows you to view/display multiple "pages" without having to leave the base page. An example is the tab-panel on the page you are now viewing. Or an accordian-panel as seen here and here. Creating this device is an extra cost that varies with the assignment.
