Suggestions for Donations > International Rescue Committee International Rescue Committee The American branch of the IRC was founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein. IRC helps people fleeing racism and religious/ethnic persecution as well as those uprooted by war and violence. Initially the Committee provides sanctuary, critical medical and public health services, shelter and food. Once the situation is stabilized IRC sets up programs to develop self sufficiency. The organization also assists in resettlement when safe return is impossible. Records indicate that $.92 of every dollar donated goes directly to refugee services.
