How
to Order a Custom Floorcloth
I
create custom-designed, one-of-a-kind floorcloths on direct
commissions by clients. Sometimes I collaborate
with interior designers to create canvas rugs for their
clients. When commissioned to paint a floorcloth, I take time
to learn about your needs using deep listening skills honed
over many years as a psychologist. I glean information about
your aesthetic and lifestyle through home
visits when possible or through phone interviews, swatches,
color chips and photographs when working
at a distance. I make all rugs to order in an interactive
process. The sample floorcloths in the
Galleries are intended to give you something to react to
so I can learn about you, your tastes, and desires.
To
Order:
1)
Please
Email Me your responses to the questions that
follow. That will help me know more about you, your tastes,
and your home.
2)
Decide on the location and measure the area you wish to cover
by laying down sheets of newspaper until it looks right to you,
and then measuring the area.
3)
Gather together swatches of any fabrics and wallpaper in the
same room or which are visible from the area of the floorcloth.
Here are two examples of how I worked from such samples.

4)
Think about the colors you would
like to see in the floorcloth. Get paint chips (from a local
paint store) of the colors for the floorcloth as well as those
representing the walls, and nearby furniture and accessories.
5)
Take photographs of the room and location where the floorcloth
will be placed. Photographs of adjoining rooms and of your favorite
objects are very helpful in showing me your style and tastes.
6)
Make notes about your favorite colors and motifs, the overal
style of your home.
7)
Look
through my sample
floorcloths and take notes about which designs "speak"
to you and which ones don't. Analyze what you like and don't
like about the sample designs.
8)
I will need a deposit of 50% of the final cost in order to begin
the design process. I will create several design sketches and
email them to you for your approval. It is at that time that
you can make adjustments to color or design. After final approval,
the painting phase of the process begins. The remaining balance
is due before I send the floorcloth off to you.
Floorcloths
are priced from $32.00-$40.00 per square foot (depending
on rug size and design complexity) plus UPS shipping
and handling.
Please allow up to 8 weeks for completion from the time the
design has been approved.
