During my training in Anthropology, I was exposed to Australian Aboriginal art and have always been drawn to one type where the main design element is paint applied as dots. The client who commissioned this floorcloth has an extensive art collection throughout her house including several examples of Australian Aboriginal art. Many years before, I had experimented with this style to create another floorcloth in my personal collection. This commission posed an exciting opportunity to experiment further with this style of painting.

The floorcloth was designed to sit in front of the client's stove and is paired with another rug I designed for this kitchen. Here is a picture of this floorcloth in the client's kitchen.
